2016: Barb's Heff

As gold as the scenic mountain landscape of Northern Bavaria in the fall, this uniquely crafted brew offers the best of Bavarian brewing techniques to create a truly traditional and authentic Hefeweizen. Barb’s Heff offers a meringue-like head with the distinct aroma of bananas and clove, which will immediately take you to a Germany of yesteryear. Medium bodied, possessing a slightly sweet and bready flavor reminiscent of freshly baked banana bread, this exceptional beer offers a champagne-like effervescence yet is smooth and easy to drink.

Barb’s Heff was chosen out of over 200 entries in the 2016 Hangar 24 Pro Am Homebrew Competition and deservedly selected as the “Best of Show” out of 7,900 entries in the 2016 Brewers Association Homebrewers Competition. Aside from its exceptional characteristics and taste, brewer Nick Corona created this beer as a way to honor his Grandmother Barbara who was diagnosed with cancer right before the 2016 competition. The label design was inspired by the Neuschwanstein Castle located in the same region the beer and brewing technique come from. In Barbara’s honor we have her sporting a bright pink scarf while piloting over the beautiful mountains of Bavaria. The Hangar 24 Production Team was honored to share this beer with you, partner with Nick and produce this beer for Barbara who has successfully recovered.
