Since Ben Cook threw open our brewery’s doors in 2008, Hangar 24 has grown rapidly, and with that growth comes an opportunity to add a select number of passionate team members who are interested in coming along for that ride with us. In under 6 years we have expanded our distribution to 3 states, and we’re looking for talented individuals to help us continue to grow while building for themselves a career in an industry filled with creativity and possibility. Beer is a great unifier, and we seek to bring that aspect of community to everything we do at Hangar 24, from the top down. Brewer

Job Summary
Responsible for all functions related to brewing, including (but not limited to) wort production, cellar-work, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and packaging of beer.

Key areas of Responsibility:

  • Producing beer in accordance to established SOP’s
  • Cleaning and sanitizing brewery equipment with strict adherence to the established SOP’s
  • Accurately and completely documenting all required data in the Brew log
  • Consulting with the Brewing Manager on a continual basis about brew schedule, raw material needs, shift tasks and activities related to the job
  • Following established safety procedures; maintaining a safe work environment at all times
  • Using and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including inventory of required items
  • Following the established Brew schedule and informing the Brewing Manager and Production Manager of any instances where the schedule needs to be changed
  • Completing all task checklists, including shift transition checklists
  • Communicating inventory needs to the Brewing Manager to ensure production is not hindered by product shortages
  • Using and maintaining equipment, including but not limited to: bottling machine, keg washer, forklift, pallet jacks, handcart

Qualifications

  • Formal brewing education, or 3 years of production brewery experience, and comprehension of the fundamentals of Brewing Science.
  • Forklift Certification is required, but will be provided, if needed.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Cellar Technician

Pay Classification
Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department
Brewery - Production

Reports to
Brewing Manager

Overall Responsibilities
Execution of daily cellar tasks and lab work in a fast paced, multiple task environment.

Requirements and Competencies

  • Adherence to all standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Timely execution of daily cellar tasks including tank C.I.P., beer transfer/filtration and preparation, packaging preparation, cask filling, fermentation monitoring, lab work and cleaning
  • Exemplary communication of task statuses to fellow production staff members, especially during shift transitions
  • Adherence to all safety protocols, including stringent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Adherence to strict sanitation standards
  • Forklift Certification and forklift operations
  • Equipment Maintenance including, but not limited to centrifugal pumps, sanitary parts and fittings, tanks and brewing equipment
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in cellar and brewing areas

  • Engineering and Maintenance Personnel
  • Quality Control Coordinator

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year brewery experience preferred
  • Strong preference given to candidates with a hard science degree or formal brewing training
  • Basic understanding of the scientific principles of brewing
  • Strong self-motivator
  • Sound judgment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to 165 lbs
  • Ability to work while standing for 8 consecutive hours

Packaging Technician

Pay Classification
Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department
Production

Reports to
Packaging Manager

Overall Responsibilities
Follows procedures in an efficient, responsible manner to package beer in various containers.

Requirements and Competencies

  • Adheres to all standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Adheres to sanitation standards
  • Operates the keg washing, kegging, bottling and canning machinery in a safe and efficient manner
  • Logs all packaged products
  • Maintains and operates transfer equipment to the kegging system, bottling line and canning line
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the packaging goals per shift
  • Maintains 5S standards in the workplace
  • Demonstrates proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Acquires Forklift Certification and operates forklift safely
  • Performs tasks and communicates hazards to maintain a safe work area
  • Performs equipment maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: Bottling Machine, Canning Line, Keg Washer, Forklift, Pallet Jacks
  • Maintains cleanliness in packaging areas
  • Consults with the Packaging Manager, Lead Packaging Technician, Senior Packaging Technicians and Cellar Technicians

Maintenance Technician

Pay Classification
Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to
Brewery Engineer

Overall Responsibilities
Essential job functions include maintenance & repair of brewery equipment including bottling line, electronics, pumps, valves, controls, machinery, etc. Assisting and completing brewery upgrade projects. Improving efficiencies through increased preventative maintenance and added functionality.

  • Brewery General Manager
  • Production Manager

Qualifications

  • Strong problem solving skills & mechanical aptitude
  • Packaging line experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of motors, gears and gearboxes
  • Ability to understand technical drawings (electrical, mechanical, construction)
  • Flexible schedule (we are a 24/7 facility)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Atmosphere & Safety Coordinator

Pay Classification
Part Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department
Brewery - Tasting Room

Reports to
Tasting Room Manager
Front of House Managers

Overall Responsibilities
Maintaining a welcoming, positive and safe environment for customers in the Tasting Room.

Key areas of Responsibility

  • Interfacing with customers
  • Monitoring customers alcohol consumption while in the tasting room and on the patio
  • Monitoring and securing safety within and around the brewery
  • Assisting bar staff members in caring for customers who may be overly intoxicated
  • Assisting in conflict resolution
  • Escorting customers to their cars and/or taxis when needed
  • Ensuring patio is clear of empty glassware and debris
  • Assisting with closing duties when necessary

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain Cicerone Certified Beer Server within 60 days of employment
  • Available to work weekends and major holidays
  • Ability to maneuver a ½ BBL Keg (165 lbs)
  • Ability to communicate with firm confidence
  • Previous security experience preferred

Merchandiser

Pay Classification
Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department
Sales and Distribution

Reports to
Operations Manager

Overall Responsibilities
Servicing current off-premise accounts, including stocking shelves, checking inventory, and pursuing new accounts in the surrounding areas

Requirements and Competencies

  • Valid California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Stocking of shelves including FIFO inventory rotation
  • Stocking and rotating of inventory according to FIFO method
  • Outgoing personality, willingness to build relationships with off premise accounts including managers, stock people, and receivers
  • Ability and willingness to work with accounts to build merchandise displays
  • Placement of POP and POS marketing materials
  • Assisting with and/or writing delivery orders to ensure accounts have sufficient stock for sales needs
  • Travel may comprise up to 100% of the workday
  • Ability to read and understand maps
  • Using “down time” to seek new accounts for off premise sales including liquor stores and service stations close to established accounts.
